Boots launches £90 weight management kit in home-testing partnership

Boots has launched 13 new home testing kits with price points ranging from £8.99 to £89.99 via a partnership with a diagnostics company that will see results uploaded to the NHS App.

The chain is launching nine new at-home kits in partnership with MyHealthChecked, including a DNA test for intolerances and sensitivities (£45.99), and blood tests aimed at assessing low energy levels (£85.99), weight management (£89.99), testosterone levels (£29.99) and cholesterol levels (£39.99).

The kits are then posted to the MyHealthChecked medical laboratory and the results emailed to patients along with “clear and practical advice” from doctors and “nutritional experts,” said Boots.

Patients will also be able to share their test results to online personal health record Patients Know Best, which will “enable their test results to be accessible to them and their GP via the NHS App” said the chain.

In addition to these lab-tested kits, Boots has launched four rapid self-tests for sperm concentration, bowel health and thyroid stimulating hormone levels (all £8.99) as well as a rapid H-Pylori testing kit priced at £10.99.

Jamie Kerruish, healthcare director at Boots, commented: “We’re seeing huge behavioural shifts from customers when it comes to preventative healthcare and we want to support our customers and patients to get a full picture of their health so they can make informed decisions, with the aim of living healthier for longer.

“Boots is well-placed to support patients to take action on their results, with our pharmacy team members able to provide healthcare advice and recommend products and services at Boots or refer on to a GP if needed.

“The ability for patients, GP and other healthcare providers to access the test results via the NHS App supports our vision to support the NHS and its 10-year plan.”
